Today's Verse: Hebrews 2:9 (NIV)
9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.
9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.
The ideas for this commentary are taken from The Bible Exposition Commentary. Although man was created lower than the angels and Christ, who became incarnate as both God and man, suffered so that we might be redeemed, God never promised angels that they would rule in the world to come. Christ was. And under His redemption, we will share in His kingdom.
Today's Comments: Man, however, when he disobeyed God, lost his right to rule in the world, which at that time was the Garden of Eden. It is the fact that Christ experienced death for every man that will one day allow us to return to the honor that God bestowed upon us, when we were created. And, while angels cannot die, they cannot save lost sinners. Only Christ who died can do that, and He has.
