Today's Devotion: Psalm 34:1 (New International Version) - [a] I will extol the LORD at all times; his praise will always be on my lips.
This is one of the Psalms of David. Did David practice what he preached?
Today's Comments: We all know the story of David and Bathsheba, don't we. Sometimes it is difficult to practice what we preach. Yet, God understands us well enough that he sent his only son to sacrifice himself upon a cross for our sins. God did not expect us to be perfect. He only asks our repentance and our trust in Jesus Christ.

The challenge of the day is to live a Christian life in a post-Christian world. Christ's light must now shine through our lives, and the deeper the darkness, the brighter that light must be.
The story of David and Batsheba provides a negative, albeit poignant, object lesson on the importance of avoiding, repenting of, and forsaking sin.
Death was required by the law for both murder and adultery, even for a king (Ex.21:12; Lev.20:10). However, because of David's deep repentance, without making excuse and, more significantly, the *promise of (2Sam.5:12)"GOD's grace" is given, though his family will +++ experience the tragic effects of his sin (2Sam.12:13-14)
